Everything we know about those two Captain Marvel end-credit scenes

Warning: The following contains some pretty serious spoilers from Captain Marvel and Avengers: Infinity War.

As all true Marvel movie fans know, Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel character was first teased last year during the end-credits scene in Avengers: Infinity War. MCU end-credit scenes are not only a staple of the expansive film universe, but they serve a dual purpose: as light-hearted gags and major connective tissue to other (especially upcoming) MCU films. And because Captain Marvel came out today, March 8th, at midnight, fans are naturally asking: How many end-credit scenes are in Captain Marvel? What are they about? And what do they mean? 

Don’t worry. We’ve got you covered, guys.

Captain Marvel contains two credit scenes, one in the middle of the credits and another at the very end. The first credits scene shows Captain Marvel officially meeting the (remaining) Avengers in present day (Captain Marvel takes place in the 1990s). In the clip, which takes place in Avengers HQ, we see Captain America, Black Widow, The Hulk, and War Machine assess the worldwide damage caused by Thanos, and plot to take him down. The gang also has their hands on Fury’s mysterious pager. They know he sent a message to someone before he disappeared, but they don’t know who or why. Cut to Carol Danvers’ epic entrance.

And the final credit scene gives us a much-needed dose of comedy.

It features Captain Marvel’s true star: Goose the cat. Specifically, Goose coughs up a hairball…containing the tesseract he consumed earlier in the film. It’s hilarious, but also a major callback to the tesseract’s major significance in the MCU universe.

Luckily we don’t have to wait much longer for more Captain Marvel, as Avengers: Endgame is slated for release on April 26th. We can’t wait.
