The internet is wishing Captain America happy birthday — including Mark Ruffalo!
Today is the 4th of July, a holiday often marked with barbecues, pool parties, fireworks, and more. But, it’s not just Independence Day — it’s also, and very importantly, Captain America‘s birthday.
The internet, naturally, is very excited about Steve Rogers turning another year older — and marked the occasion accordingly.
One big name to commemorate Cap’s big day? Well, none other than Mark Ruffalo, who plays Bruce Banner/The Hulk opposite Chris Evans‘ superhero. “Happy Birthday America! #4thOfJuly,” he wrote, with a picture of Evans in character.

This is just way too cute — we can’t even! And fans seemed to feel similarly as they quickly, and hilariously, responded with thanks on Evans’ behalf. (No word yet from Evans himself, but we’ll surely be keeping an eye out.) false false
Beyond Ruffalo’s post, one Twitter user joked that her son claims Captain America is the reason why we celebrate the 4th of July. Another quipped that Cap is the founder of the US of A.
Others tweeted in advance of the holiday that this patriotic superhero is basically what Santa is to Christmas, and should be left snacks — like good ol’ apple pie — accordingly. And one ambitious Twitter user wrote of his plans to once again recite Captain America: The Winter Soldier (and seriously, talk about a superhero). false

Nothing but respect for the founder of this country, Captain America. Can't believe he singlehandedly created America.
