It’s actually happening — they’re making a Candy Crush television show

Anyone out there still play Candy Crush Saga? It seems to have gone the way of Angry Birds — still incredible, but not played as often as back in the good ol’ days. However, Angry Birds had a movie based around it that hit theaters not too long ago, and it looks like Candy Crush is getting somewhat similar treatment. But instead of the movies, this spin-off will hit your TV screens.

Believe it or not, Candy Crush Saga is being adapted into a reality game show series. The show is pegged to be a live-action, hour long broadcast, and it’ll be featured on CBS. The show has been in development for about two years.

"We are huge fans of Candy Crush and, like so many others, we know the ‘rush’ of advancing to the next level of the game, said the president of CBS Entertainment, Glenn Geller.  "We’re excited to work with Lionsgate and King to adapt one of the world’s most popular and entertaining game franchises for television and make it available to its massive, passionate fan base who can watch and play along at home."

Here’s how the show will work:  Teams of two will be using their brains and brawn to compete within gigantic interactive game boards. Technology will help them conquer Candy Crush and win the game. So… perhaps it’s a little like a more advanced Nick Arcade? Surely it’ll make a lot more sense when we see it in action!

The folks behind the show think it’ll be vibrant, fun, and a wonderful visual experience for their audience. We think it’ll definitely be something we have to see to believe!
