Candace Cameron Bure (aka DJ Tanner) drops some major ‘Fuller House’ info
Fuller House is coming and we are so ready for it. Even though the Netflix show is only in the early production stages, grown-up DJ Tanner (yes, we know she’s not ACTUALLY DJ Tanner) is doling out all sorts of information about what we can expect when the show brings back our old friends. One of the best things she’s recently revealed? The show could premiere as early as January 2016. That’s only seven months away!
Candace Cameron Bure, who plays DJ, recently spoke to The Daily Beast about the upcoming show of our dreams, and offered a little plot information. For starters, the name Fuller House is a play on her married last name — DJ married a man named Tommy Fuller. However, Tommy has just recently passed away, just like DJ’s mom had recently passed when Full House started.
And if you’re anything like me (and other Full House fans) when you heard the news that DJ would be playing a widow, the hard questions began to set in: Wait, Steve didn’t die, right? Answer: No. See above.“Everyone is so worried about that!” She told The Daily Beast. “They can be reassured that Steve did not die — which is fun because that opens the door. Who knows if Scott Weinger and that character will make a return at some point.” Hopefully this means that he will most definitely return, and he and DJ will live happily ever after, and then really ALL our childhood dreams will come true.
She also revealed that the first episode of the 13-episode series will be a full-fledged Full House reunion, and will re-introduce all the characters including Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin, who’s now a struggling musician), and Kimmy (Andrea Barber, who’s still DJ’s BFF, and now mother to a “free-spirited” teenage girl), who have just moved in with DJ. “She’s a little overwhelmed and newly pregnant when we first see her, so knowing she has a baby on the way and these two boys, she asks her sister and best friend to come move in and help her raise her kids.” Talk about the Tanner family coming full circle.
Also included in the first episode will be Uncle Jesse (have mercy, John Stamos), Aunt Becky (Lori Loughlin), and Uncle Joey (Dave Coulier). Still unconfirmed: Danny Tanner (Bob Saget) and little Michelle (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen). But they’ve gotta show up eventually, right?
“They’re still talking to everyone but I’m pretty sure that everyone will come back in some way,” Bure said. “The whole cast has been very supportive and wants to come back in some way or another. Whether it’s in the first episode, making an appearance in an additional episode, or just being on set, everyone’s excited.”
You guys are excited? WE’RE excited. We practically haven’t slept for weeks, with every night feeling like Full House Christmas Eve. The show will start filming this summer, but we still need to know one more thing. What’s the theme song going to be? Will it be, “Everywhere You Look” but now auto-tuned for the 21st century?
“I would assume they’re going to do a new theme song for the show,” she said. But OK, let us know when you know for SURE what it’s going to be. We’ll just be right here(!), waiting for more Fuller House news.
