This four-year-old cancer patient just had a pretend wedding with her favorite nurse and everything is the sweetest forever

4-year-old Abby is currently battling Pre-B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. One of the bright spots in her treatment at the Melodies Center at Albany Medical Center has been her nurse, Matt Hickling. Matt has been SUCH a great nurse that Abby told her mother several times this past week that he is the man she wants to marry. So Abby’s mom, with the help of the hospital, created a very sweet pretend wedding for Abby and her favorite nurse.

In less than 24 hours, as CBS News reports, the wedding was planned and pulled off without a hitch. The bride wore a white dress and veil over her black leggings and pink t-shirt and carried a pink and purple bouquet, and the groom wore a pink boutonnière fastened to his short-sleeved tuxedo shirt. Most of the Melodies staff was in attendance, humming “Here Comes The Bride,” as Abby scurried across the rose petal-strewn hospital room to give Matt a big hug.

“Our patient shyly asked me to marry her,” Matt wrote on his personal Facebook page. “I didn’t hesitate to say yes, I got a HUGE hug and we sealed the deal with ring pops being placed on our fingers!”

Local florist Enchanted Gardens donated the flowers, everyone had wedding cake, and Matt even pushed Abby around in a “Just Married” mini-car.

Here’s another shot of the “just married” two, it looks like Abby and Matt also participated in the time-honored “Smush some cake in your new spouse’s face” tradition

We love how Abby’s mom and the hospital staff worked together to give this very deserving little girl such a very special day. And, because they’re EXTRA awesome, they captured the whole thing on video for us, check it out!
