Weeks ago, Instagram exploded when Camila Cabello uploaded a picture with J Balvin and Pitbull. Many theories were born, all of them pointing to a possible new collaboration. After a meticulous investigation found footage on social media, it was confirmed the three where shooting a video. And now, thankfully, we don’t have to guess details anymore.

The music trinity premiered the video to their Spanish-language single, “Hey Ma,” currently featured on the soundtrack of the movie Fate of the Furious from the popular long-lasting Fast & Furious franchise. The video opens with a shot of Camila walking the narrow alleys and colorful streets of Miami, channeling the vivid scenes of Cuba. In the next scene, J Balvin enters, and we begin to hear powerful percussion, followed by ¡Dale!; a now trademark shout of the Colombian superstar. They are then joined by Latino hip-hop sensation, Pitbull, and his intricate verses.
Camila, who was born in Cuba, lived in Mexico City, and immigrated to the United States, is vocal and proud of her roots and culture. “Hey Ma” accentuates Camila’s pride. She is front and center during the video, dressed in a white-ruffle crop-top, perfectly paired with white high-waisted pants — very reminiscent of Selena’s iconic all white, high-waisted outfit.
Throughout the video, we see the colorful neon lights, a dance party, and scenes from the upcoming film. “Hey Ma” is a perfect union of reggaeton and hip-hop.
While we wait for Camila’s debut solo album to premiere, we will be dancing to “Hey Ma.” We hope it’s not the last collaboration we will get from these latinx powerhouses. Summer hasn’t started yet, and we already know this will be all the range on the dance floor!
