Camila Cabello revealed her thoughts on Blue Ivy telling Beyoncé and Jay Z not to clap during her Grammys speech
Even though the 2018 Grammys was about a month ago, we still can’t stop talking about certain parts of the show. Specifically, a blink-or-you’ll-miss-it moment that happened not on stage but in the audience. Yep, we’re talking about Blue Ivy telling Beyoncé and Jay Z not to clap during a moving speech from Camila Cabello.
“I’m here on this stage tonight because, just like the DREAMers, my parents brought me to this country with nothing in their pockets but hope,” Cabello said passionately on stage. “They showed me what it means to work twice as hard and never give up. And honestly no part of my journey is any different from theirs.”
When the camera cut to the audience for reactions, we were gifted with a true sight to behold: six-year-old Blue Ivy calmly but firmly telling her parents to be cool and stop clapping. Now, a month later, Camila Cabello is opening up about the moment. On Monday, February 19th, Cabello was a guest on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show. Host Nick Grimshaw asked her about the moment, and Cabello revealed that she felt a bit insecure about it.
"What do you think that means? I had a moment of insecurity. I surprised myself. I was like, 'What does that mean?'" Cabello wondered. "Do you think that she didn't like my speech?...I literally stopped. I was like, you know what, I'm not going to think about that. Because I feel like she would like me. Kids like me!"
Grimshaw offered his take — that Blue Ivy was shushing her parents so she could hear Camila Cabello speak.
"I think what she was doing was, she was over the applause interrupting your speech," Grimshaw said. "I think she was saying to Beyoncé and Jay Z, to her mum and dad, 'She’s not finished, she’s still talking!' I think she was like, 'Be cool Be cool.'"

We’re inclined to agree. After all, Blue Ivy isn’t immune to fangirling. Just one year earlier, at the 2017 Grammys, she was up on her feet clapping and cheering along with the crowd.
Maybe Blue Ivy just takes Camila Cabello very seriously and needed to absorb her words without distraction. We definitely feel that.
