Cameron Diaz “Hates the Drama” of Movies, Likely to Re-Retire, Says Source
Jaime Foxx got Diaz to unretire, but the starlet has been struggling on the set of her new movie.
Jamie Foxx is going to have to do a lot better than a Tom Brady pep talk if he hopes to keep Cameron Diaz from retiring again. The Annie costars are reuniting onscreen for Netflix’s forthcoming action comedy, Back in Action — a fitting title considering this will be Diaz’s first film in nearly a decade.
However, a source allegedly close to the actress revealed in an interview with the Daily Mail that Diaz is seriously considering that she might retire from her acting career once and for all due to homesickness. In 2018, the Bad Teacher star announced she was retiring to prioritize her family. A year later, she and husband Benji Madden welcomed daughter Raddix.
“These back-to-back 10-hour workdays have been a lot on her and she hates being away from Raddix,” the source revealed of Diaz’s busy schedule. Her favorite role, the source added, is being three-year-old Raddix’s mom: “Cameron loves being a mom more than anything in the world.”
Her decades-long friendship with Foxx was allegedly Diaz’s motivator for signing onto the project, which is currently filming in the UK. In fact, her friend says fans have Foxx to thank for Diaz’s highly anticipated return to the big screen. Last week, Foxx reportedly fired four people on the set of the film, according to The Sun, after problems rose during production.
“Cameron is a businessperson and understands that this is necessary at times and, honestly, Jamie is the only reason that she is doing this film and they are still very close,” they told the outlet.

Unfortunately, not even having her best pal on set may be enough to salvage her comeback. The source admits Diaz isn’t happy with how things are going down both on and outside of set.
“She hates drama and confrontation. This is why she retired from the business in the first place,” the source said. “She has already proven herself in the industry and has nothing left to prove to anyone.”
Back in Action is expected to hit Netflix late 2023/early 2024.
