Need a quick pep talk to get through the day? Sophia Amoruso, founder and CEO of Nasty Gal, has a number you can call.
As part of the promotion for her new autobiography “#GirlBoss,” 30-year-old Amoruso set up the toll-free number 1-844-GIRLBOSS. Callers get to choose from various clips of Amoruso dishing out advice on how to lead “an awesome life” and step into the working world with confidence.
Amoruso doles out tips on fashion, money, entrepreneurship, and taking care of business in pre-recorded snippets. Dialers can press 1 to hear about being a girl boss, 2 to hear about finances, or 3 to hear Amoruso dish about fashion. Each option leads to another menu that allows you to choose more specifically. Press one and one again, for example, and you’ll hear this:
“A girl boss is someone who’s in charge of her own life. She gets what she wants because she works for it. Sometimes you break the rules, but sometime you follow them, but always on your own terms.You’re going to take over the world, and change it in the process.”
Amoruso’s memoir describes her journey creating a $100 million business from scratch, banding together with her friends to launch a retail company and keeping it afloat from humble beginnings as an eBay store run out of her apartment.
