Caitlyn Jenner’s Twitter message to Laverne Cox = Feel good moment of the week

When Caitlyn Jenner’s Vanity Fair cover hit the Internet, the outpouring of support and praise was goose bump-worthy incredible. It was also a testament to how far we’ve come as a society in terms of transgender acceptance. Although there’s still a long way to go, the love shown towards Caitlyn proves we’re on the right path.

Caitlyn received a huge amount of support from people in the public eye, notably trans icon Laverne Cox who has spoken out in praise of Caitlyn numerous times in the past few weeks. Now Caitlyn has taken to Twitter to thank Cox for her words.

What were those words exactly? Well, following the release of the Vanity Fair cover, Cox took to her blog to share her thoughts.

“On May 29, 2014, the issue of Time Magazine which proclaimed the ‘Transgender Tipping Point’ was revealed with me on the cover. June 1, 2015 a year and 3 days later, Caitlyn Jenner’s Vanity Fair cover was revealed proclaiming #CallMeCaitlyn I am so moved by all the love and support Caitlyn is receiving,” she wrote. “It feels like a new day, indeed, when a trans person can present her authentic self to the world for the first time and be celebrated for it so universally.

“Caitlyn looks amazing and is beautiful but what I think is most beautiful about her is her heart and soul,” Cox continued in her post. “The ways she has allowed the world into her vulnerabilities. The love and devotion she has for her family and that they have for her. Her courage to move past denial into her truth so publicly. These things are beyond beautiful to me.”

Now Caitlyn has publicly written back saying:

Cox wrote back to Jenner saying:

Caitlyn is right — Laverne Cox is fierce and fabulous. She’s also a thoughtful and unstoppable force for good. Having only just recently stepped into the spotlight as herself, Caitlyn is likely going to face continued pushback and ignorance alongside the support and love. But with strong figures like Cox standing up with her, we’re confident society will continue making huge and important strides towards equality. And we’ll do it together.
