Caitlyn Jenner just announced a tell-all memoir “The Secrets of My Life” and we are intrigued!
Caitlyn Jenner has picked a name for her upcoming memoir, and it couldn’t be more appropriate or compelling. The Secrets of My Life will hit bookstands on April 17. Released by Grand Central Publishing, the memoir will follow Jenner’s life from her childhood years and as Olympic superstar Bruce Jenner through her three marriages, birth of her six children and transition to Caitlyn.
The 66-year-old decathlete teamed up with Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and Friday Night Lights author Buzz Bissinger. He wrote that incredible Vanity Fair coming-out cover story.
The reality star could make around $1 million for the book, which was her idea.
She approached Bissinger about it after the positive public reaction to her Vanity Fair story.
Before becoming an unwitting reality star, and long before coming out as trans, Bruce Jenner was a national treasure. At the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Jenner won the gold medal in the men’s decathalon and broke a world record.
Four years earlier, in 1972, Jenner was inspired by gold-medalist Olympian Mykola Avilov to train as hard as he could to get the gold.
“For the first time, I knew what I wanted out of life and that was it, and this guy has it. I literally started training that night at midnight, running through the streets of Munich, Germany, training for the Games. I trained that day on through the 1976 Games, 6–8 hours a day, every day, 365 days a year.”
“It hurts every day when you practice hard. Plus, when this decathlon is over, I got the rest of my life to recuperate. Who cares how bad it hurts?” he told the DeMoines Register.
Speaking of overcoming difficulty, Bissinger says of Jenner’s upcoming memoir, “it’s really about pain; it’s about isolation. It’s about fear, and it’s about the vast difficulty of being different.”
