Busy Philipps opened up about how exercise helps with her anxiety
In a powerful Instagram post, Busy Philipps has shared how exercise helps with her anxiety.
The star, whose Instagram account offers an intensely personal, real, and filter free version of her life, shared a sweaty selfie yesterday, in which she opened up about her exercise routine and how she uses it to help combat her struggles with anxiety and depression.
“Someone asked me if people like my sweaty Instagram stories and my feeling is that, honestly, I don’t really care all that much,” Philipps wrote, noting that she often shares pics of herself after she’s worked out. “I post those for myself, as a fuck yes for showing up.”

The actress noted that she posts the pictures on to social media as part of her journey to fighting against her mental health problems.
"I have anxiety and I have a tendency towards depression but I have found if I sweat like this, EVERY SINGLE DAY, I feel better, I'm calmer, I'm a better mom and those fogs of anxiety or sadness seem a little lighter," she explained in the caption.
In fact, Philipps said that since she started exercising every single day she’s noticed changes in her behavior, too, noting that she doesn’t pick at her skin and hasn’t been binge eating.
“I’ve just felt better about myself.(And obvi I go to therapy too),” she wrote. “My goal is not some perfect bod (I like chips and salsa and margs too much for that). My goal is to feel the best I can in my body and my brain for the rest of my life. ❤️??.”

The 37-year-old mom of two also gave a shout out to LEKfit, a dance fitness workout, Motivational Coach Angelia Manuel-Davis, and the cult-like SoulCycle.
While Busy Philipps’s routine might not work for everyone struggling with mental health problems, it’s certainly great to see someone who has managed to find a way to maintain their health. We feel pretty honored that she decided to share it with us.
