Burger King is offering free Whoppers in exchange for gifts you don’t want, and we couldn’t love this more
If your well-meaning great aunt gets way too caught up in this year’s holiday movie spirit and sews you a giant, pink A Christmas Story-inspired bunny costume, we offer you sympathy and a solution in advance. As reported by Delish, Burger King is offering free Whoppers in exchange for unwanted gifts (obviously, your fuzzy pink nightmare of a present qualifies).
The fast food chain’s burger-gift swap takes the guilt, shame and hassle out of returning unwanted Christmas gifts by offering anyone unfortunate enough to get bad holiday gifts something they can appreciate much more than another lame 2-for-1 pack of tube socks.
While bad gift-recipients walk away happily enjoying a free burger, the fast food chain will donate the unwanted gifts to charity.
Honestly, this creative union between regifting and the classic gift exchange sounds like a win-win all the way around, doesn’t it? Free food is ALWAYS eagerly accepted around these parts, and you get to walk away with a full belly and a full heart knowing that you had a hand in performing a charitable act.
HAPPY HOLIDAY FEELS FOR EVERYONE.
Well, wait…not everyone. Unfortunately, the in-person burger-gift swaps are only taking place on the day after Christmas at Miami Beach’s Arthur Godfrey Road location between 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., as well as select locations in London and Brazil.
But for all the other sad saps who are so over their holiday gifts, simply share a pic on social media with the hashtag #WhopperExchange and Burger King will choose 100 fans to deliver a special treat to that will hopefully make up for receiving the short end of the holiday gift stick.
