The amazing reason a military woman’s drink order is going viral
When a “military woman” tried to order a Blue Moon and a Corona at a Buffalo Wild Wings in Tacoma last week, server Brian Avey at first turned her down. In Washington State, he said, it’s illegal to order two alcoholic drinks at once. But the vet explained that the second beer wasn’t actually for her: It was for her brother, who had died while serving in Iraq. Avey let her have both beers, and the woman drank her Blue Moon — leaving the Corona untouched in front of an empty chair. Buffalo Wild Wings picked up the tab for her brother’s beer, and the woman left a note of thanks on her receipt.
“Thank you. An act of kindness goes a long way. It means a lot to me. Have a great rest of your day,” she wrote, signing it from a “Grateful Soldier.” Avey took a picture of the Corona and her receipt and shared the story on Facebook, where it was quick to go viral — and the story only gets better from there.
“After she left, I didn’t have the heart to dump the beer out and throw it away, so I put it on top of the cooler next the American flag,” Avey wrote in the post. When he showed the beer to his boss, his response was perfect.
“Let’s keep it,” he told Avey, according to KIRO 7. “Just make sure that we change out the lime every day.”
To date, the post has received over 73,000 likes and 32,000 shares — proving just how much a small act of kindness can have a huge, wonderful impact, and how important it is we remember and honor the men and women who selflessly serve our country.
