Buckingham Palace is hiring a chef, and the offer includes 33 vacation days
Love cooking and dream of working for the royal family? This job might be right up your alley—and it comes with a few pretty sweet perks. You know, other than preparing meals for the Queen herself.
According to a job posting on the Royal Household‘s website, Buckingham Palace is hiring a sous chef to work for the Master of the Household’s Office. The position is full-time, five days a week, and the ideal candidate is someone who wants to develop their leadership skills and provide “extraordinary service.” Duh, this is the royal family we’re talking about.
Best of all? The Buckingham Palace job promises a “competitive salary,” along with a pension. The person they hire will also be eligible for live-in accommodations and have all their meals provided, if they so choose, not to mention 33 days of paid vacation. Yes, 33 days, which is practically unheard of in the U.S.
But that doesn’t mean you won’t be expected to work hard. The sous chef is responsible for planning menus, managing the kitchen’s food stock, and assisting the head chef in keeping the staff motivated.
"You'll have a thorough knowledge of the food industry and are trained in classical French cuisine, and you'll be confident planning and developing menus for a wide range of occasions, including volume catering," the site said of the ideal candidate.
