Bruno Mars just donated $1 million to help those affected by the Flint water crisis

The Flint water crisis has been going on for several years and has affected thousands. Now, Flint is finally taking some steps to solve their water crisis (even though residents are still paying for their water bills). A lot of the help along the way has come from the kindness of others. Many celebrities have stepped up to help Flint, including Jimmy Fallon, Big Sean, and Cher — and now, Bruno Mars.
In addition to being a ridiculously talented singer who continues to wow us with his voice and swagger, we just heard that Bruno Mars donated $1 million to the Flint water crisis.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mars donated earnings from a recent Michigan concert to a charity called The Community Foundation of Greater Flint. The donation is intended to help the victims who were exposed to lead and other chemical contamination in their water after the city switched water sources and experienced pipe corrosion.
It’s hard to believe, but Flint has been without clean water since 2014.
Mars’ thoughtful donation will go such a long way toward correcting the damage and reinvigorating the spirit of Flint residents.
"As people, especially as Americans, we need to stand together to make sure something like this never happens in any community ever again," Mars said in a statement.

There’s lots of conflict in the world at the moment. It’s great to see someone reach out with a gesture that is going to change people’s lives for the better.
We are so grateful for you, Bruno.
There’s an upcoming TV movie about the Flint water crisis starring Queen Latifah and Betsy Brandt (it’s called Flint), and we look forward to that raising even more awareness about the problems in Flint.
