“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star Stephanie Beatriz comes out as bi, becomes *major* queer Latina role model

Best known for playing Detective Rosa Diaz on the impressively progressive Brooklyn Nine-Nine,  Stephanie Beatriz is famous for her quick wit, biting sarcasm, and secretly soft heart. As major fans, we were so *beyond* excited when she took to Twitter to come out as bisexual.

Inspired by queen of sarcasm Aubrey Plaza’s recent coming out, the star decided to step into the spotlight herself. In a response about Plaza being bi, Beatriz tweeted a simple, “Yup,” letting us know that she, too, plays for Team Bi.

Though it seems like no biggie, by coming out, Beatriz was making major history. In a society where the LGBTQ+ community can be very much whitewashed and centered around gay men, Beatriz has made herself a potential role model for queer Latinas across the country.

After all, how many LGBTQ+ Latinas can you think of off the top of your head?

Fans are *so* excited.

Plus, as if this sweet story wasn’t tear-jerking enough, Beatriz even took the time to respond to a fan who thanked her for coming out.

Like, how SWEET is that?

Beatriz, we’re grateful for your courage, and excited fans, we’re with you!
