These Broadway stars paid homage to Britney Spears and it’s the greatest crossover ever

There are LOADS of artists whose songs we’d love to see turned into Broadway musicals. While the likes of Queen, Abba, and Carole King have all made musicals out of their hits, it seems that stars of the stage agree as Broadway Loves just paid homage to Britney Spears![/header]
Given that Britney Spears has been in the music industry for nearly 20 years, we’re surprised that it’s taken this long for Broadway to show their appreciation for the singer’s discography. After all, Britney is the ultimate showgirl – just check out her latest video for proof.
Well, now a bunch of Broadway stars have shown the Princess of Pop their appreciation with a concert celebrating Spears’ hits.
Broadway Loves took place in New York on November 16th at Feinstein’s/54 and was produced and directed by Benjamin Rauhala. The show featured choreography by Brandon Hudson (Hamilton) and Alex Ringler (West Side Story) and saw a whole host of Broadway stars take on classic (and new) Britney songs.
Stars like Nick Adams (Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Wicked), Jeff Heimbrock (The Book of Mormon, Newsies), Alex Newell (Glee), Ariana Groover (Holler If Ya Hear Me, Bare), and Josh Tolle (Kinky Boots) took on Britney staples like “I’m a Slave 4 U,” “Lucky,” “Till the World Ends,” “Make Me…,” “Toxic,” and current single “Slumber Party.”
In fact we can’t get enough Ariana Groover’s version of “Slumber Party.”

Also Josh Tolle gave “Make Me…” his ALL.

Alex Newell whipped his hair to “Womanizer.”

Jeff Heimbrook turned “Lucky” into an emotional Broadway number.

But Nick Adams’s performance of “I’m a Slave 4 U” was CLEARLY the highlight of the night. He even dressed up as Britney and everything! Iconic.

Broadway Loves is a concert series that has celebrated the music of stars like Katy Perry, Celine Dion, Sam Smith, the Spice Girls, and has even done Britney Spears before. This latest celebration of BritBrit was in honor of the memory of the singer’s friend and longtime choreographer, Andre Fuentes, who sadly died earlier this year.

If this event showcases anything it’s that Britney needs to let someone make a musical out of her hits. The songs are SO good, and there’s such a variety that they could tell an amazing story. As the performances above prove, even the singer’s more recent material works well.
