A ton of Broadway stars will be putting on their own show on Inauguration Day to raise money for human rights
It’s always nice to hear good news at the start of the week, and we just found out that Broadway stars are holding an Inauguration Day show in NYC to raise money for crucial human rights organizations like Planned Parenthood and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
The show is called, “Concert for America: Stand Up, Sing Out!,” and the performers include Rosie O’Donnell, Betty Buckley, Chita Rivera, Jessie Mueller (the star of Waitress), and Rosie Perez.
Speaking about the event to Billboard, Mueller offered a realistic approach that we’re so on board with.
"Hate comes from a lack of love, so we can't fight it with more of its own toxicity, we have to fill it with love. There are really big things at stake. Things we can't save or solidify or safeguard alone. We have to think bigger, we have to ask for help, we have to reach out to one another and band together. I hope this concert can be an example of that."

The big day is happening on January 20th, but if you can’t get to Manhattan, don’t worry! Thanks to the internet, it will be streamed on Facebook. There’s also a movement to donate to Planned Parenthood on Inauguration Day if you’d like to get involved, as well as a million women marching in D.C. on inauguration weekend. Things are moving fast.
It’s clear that 2017 is definitely starting off with an incredible amount of spirit, persistence, and commitment to achieving positive change in politics and beyond, and we salute those who are working hard to inspire others that anything is possible.
