Broad City’s Abbi and Ilana kill it on ‘Lip Sync Battle,’ of course
In case you haven’t noticed, we at HelloGiggles kinda sorta LOVE Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer. Not only do they totally kill it as on-screen besties in Comedy Central’s Broad City, but their amazing IRL friendship is something that’s regularly a topic of conversation. Those ladies are there for each other through thick and thin, all while making us bust our guts laughing. So NATURALLY they would be featured on this week’s Lip Sync Battle, the show that pits celebs against each other in a rad lip-syncing contest.
Ilana and Abbi joined the ranks of lip-syncing celebs such as Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway, Tom Cruise, and Anna Kendrick, to name just a few. The show, a spin-off of one of Jimmy Fallon’s best segments, has been gaining ridiculously huge popularity with celebs of all kinds taking the challenge to the max.
And, of course, the dynamic duo of Abbi and Ilana totally owned the stage, because how could they not?
The episode will only be premiering on Thursday, but yesterday, the show posted a special sneak peek on their YouTube channel of Abbi belting out “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” by Jennifer Hudson (aka the hit song from Dreamgirls). We know she wasn’t *actually* singing, but she did a pretty darn convincing job of making it SEEM like she was.
YAAAAS QUEEN. The passion! The determination! Doin’ Jennifer Hudson proud, we’d say. Now, based on the sneak peek, it looks like she did a pretty fab job. . . but then Vulture released an exclusive sneak peek of Ilana knocking it out of the park with Outkast’s “Hey Ya.”
Watching Ilana mouth, “What’s cooler than bein’ cool?” is something we didn’t know we needed until now. Broad City fans (us included) will have to wait until Thursday to see the full performances in all their glory, but until then, we’ll be watching and re-watching these snippets of Abbi and Ilana lip-syncing their big ol’ hearts out.
