Our ‘Broad City’ besties are fasting for Yom Kippur and they’re super hangry
Happy Yom Kippur! Eh, actually it’s not something that you really yell “HAPPY” in front of as Yom Kippur is the Jewish Day of Atonement and considered the holiest day of the year. The annual holiday includes prayer, repentance, and what many consider to be the hardest thing of all: Fasting. Yes, from sundown yesterday (the 22nd) until sundown tonight many Jews will be fasting, which is no easy feat. Abbi and Ilana (of Broad City) are learning that the hard way.
As we patiently wait for Broad City to return to our television sets in 2016, Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer are still hanging out, and have started releasing new digital shorts: “Hack Into Broad City.” First one up? Their alter egos, Abbi Abrams and Ilana Wexler struggle with keeping the fast. GIRLS, I feel you (except that I just ate a bagel, please don’t tell my Jewish grandma).
In the clip, we find Abbi and Ilana in their respective bedrooms and video chatting, complaining hard about how hungry they are. Their preemptive carbo-load is NOT helping. Neither is the fact that they list off all the bad things they’ve done this year, hoping that will make them less-hungry.
Shoutout to Ilana, who has mastered the art of sneaky-eating while Abbi isn’t looking. Listen, it’s not Abbi’s fault that the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich is staring her in the face.
