Britney Spears opened up about a terrible date and it’s adorably relatable
We love Britney Spears so much and not just because of the endless hit songs, flawless music videos, and iconic dance routines. No, we love Britney Spears because the 34-year-old is probably the realest popstar out there right now. Not only does the hitmaker share goofy pictures with her kids, but she’s also just, like, gets it.
Britney has been super busy recording and releasing her amazing ninth studio album Glory, as well as raising two children, and ruling the Vegas strip with her “Britney Spears: Piece of Me” residency. Still, Brit has found time to date, too.
However, like most of us, Britney has been on her fair share of terrible, terrible dates.
Speaking to Marie Claire UK for the October issue, Brit opened up about one experience and, sister, we feel ya.
“I had a really bad date,” she explained, “‘I mean, it was really bad. I’ve been single for ages and had a date with a guy I liked. I was getting anxious, worrying he wouldn’t like me.”
Okay, this is SO sweet. Britney, we totally know how you feel. We get anxious about this stuff all the time.
Continuing, the “Make Me” singer said, “We went to the movies, but I could tell right away it wasn’t working. It was sort of awkward. So after the movie I came home and that was it. It just didn’t work […] He just wasn’t that into me. I liked him. He knew that. But he definitely didn’t feel the same. It happens to everybody.
“Being famous doesn’t make you any different.”
So, this date doesn’t sound like an absolute disaster, right? At least you didn’t set fire to a menu (yes, that’s happened), pour a drink all over yourself, or get popcorn stuck in your teeth. Still, we totally know how sucky it can be when you really like someone but there’s just no…chemistry.
Regardless, it seems that Britney doesn’t actually need to date because the singer recently just discovered sushi!
“I never ate sushi until a year or so ago,” she said. “I thought the idea of raw fish was horrible. Then [my sister Jamie Lynn and I] had a day in a hotel in Vegas and she ordered up every single bit of sushi they had and we sat there just eating everything. Now I’m hooked.”
Okay Brit, next time we’re in Vegas, let’s definitely do sushi and girl talk.
