Britney Spears’ “big announcement” has been revealed—she’s got a brand new Vegas residency
Last week Britney Spears stopped by The Ellen Show to announce that she had something to announce (and had a reunion with Ryan Gosling while she was at it). Immediately, Britney stans started to speculate: Is she going on tour? Is there a new album? Is it a Crossroads sequel? (Unfortunately, no.) Turns out her big announcement is that she’s heading back to Vegas. Britney wrapped a four-year stint at Planet Hollywood’s Axis theater earlier this year and will return to Sin City in February of next year for a new residency called Domination at the Park Theater at the new Park MGM hotel.
Spears announced the news in a 30-minute live video on The Ellen Show‘s YouTube channel. In the video, the name of her new residency was projected onto the side of the Park MGM while Spears signed autographs for fans. Interestingly, Spears’ hypemen all wore shirts and rode on cars simply labeled “Britney,” and now we wonder if the millennial pop icon is going to be adopting single-name status soon?

According to Caesars President of Entertainment Jason Gastwirth, it seems like Spears is following in Madonna/Cher/Céline’s footsteps.
"It takes a certain kind of artist, one with a wide-scale fan base, a great music catalog and who’s capable of bringing it every night. A good rule of thumb would be, they’re identifiable by one name, Gastwirth told Variety.

Spears’ is taking another cue from Céline Dion’s playbook: the four-year residency reinvention. Dion started her Vegas career with A New Day... but after four years, she—like Spears is doing now—introduced a new show, Celine, that she ended up playing for eight years.
Pre-sale tickets for Domination are available now. The general public sale begins on October 26th, 2018.
