Britney Spears canceled her Las Vegas residency due to a family medical issue, and we hope everything’s okay
Back in October, pop legend Britney Spears shared that she’d be beginning a new Las Vegas residency at the Park MGM resortstarting in February 2019. Unfortunately, due to family medical issues, Spears has now canceled her Domination show for the time being. Spears shared the news in a series of tweets today, January 4th, explaining that the decision wasn’t easy.
"I will not be performing my new show Domination," she tweeted. "I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart."
The “Toxic” singer went on to write that she nearly lost her father several months ago, and that he is still recovering from his hospitalization. She tweeted that in light of his condition, she’s decided to take time off to be with her family.

Spears also shared a link to a press release on her website, which clarified that she would be on an “indefinite work hiatus” until further notice. In the release, she also issued an official statement on her decision:
"I am dedicating my focus and energy to care for my family. We have a very special relationship and I want to be with my family at this time just like they have always been there for me. Thank you to all my fans for your continued love and support during this time. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and I look forward to the time when I can be back on stage performing for all of you."
I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time. I hope you all can understand. More information on ticket refunds is available on https://t.co/SBF4WxXT31.
