Britney Spears just went brunette, and it feels like a “Gimme More” throwback
Our favorite blonde bombshell has gone full-on brunette. Britney Spears took a page from little sister Jamie Lynn Spears’ book and dyed her blonde locks a shade of ash brown, and we don’t know about you, but we’re getting major “Gimme More” vibes.
The new dye job isn’t as drastic as the look she sported a decade ago for her 2009 music video for “Gimme More.” That hair color was closer to an inky black than brunette. In fact, her current look still has highlights that, when in the right light, almost look blonde. It’s really the perfect blonde-to-brunette transition shade, tbh.
"Same faces, same dress, new hair !!!!!" Spears captioned a September 4th Instagram post, in which she shows off her new look with a slideshow of goofy faces. "Yes, my sister inspired me to go dark," she added.
And we’re not the only ones who love it. Snooki commented, “I love you,” and model Tess Holliday added, “We love a dark haired queen.” Spears’ boyfriend Sam Asghari commented, “Beautiful blond or black.”

Jamie Lynn, meanwhile, went brunette for an acting role back in July. Hers is a similar shade to Britney’s—an ashy brown with warmer blonde highlights. And she pulls it off perfectly.

Britney has been rocking the long blonde look for several years, so this switch up is a big change for the mom of two. We can’t wait to see how she styles it with her iconic fashion looks.
It looks like all of us will be asking for the “Britney” when we hit up the salon for our pre-fall color and cut. Her ash brown may just be the look for fall.
