Bride’s first wedding dance is absolutely heart-stirring
Kirsten Mundell’s wedding was a double celebration. As she celebrated a beautiful new chapter beginning in her life, she also made room to celebrate something else: her father.
Six years ago, Mundell’s father who worked as a law enforcement officer, was tragically killed in the line of duty. All these years later, she wanted to incorporate her dad into her special day. Down the back of her white dress was a woven blue ribbon that not only served as her “something blue,” it was also meant to symbolize his presence.
In addition to her meaningful ribbon, the bride also reserved a front row seat for her father. (This is, hands down, one of the most stunning commemorations we’ve ever seen.) “It meant a lot knowing that we were able to save a spot for him and knowing that I felt him there I knew he was there,” she told KOMO News.
But the heartwarming moments didn’t end there. When it came time for the father-daughter dance, Mundell was completely surprised by her father’s fellow policemen. While dancing with the detective who had walked her down the aisle, Kristen said she felt a tap on the shoulder.
“We’re sitting there dancing and then all of a sudden someone taps me on the shoulder and says, ‘Can I cut in?’ and I was shocked. I didn’t know how to react, how to respond,” Kirsten told KOMO News. It was one of her father’s fellow officers. “He said, ‘There’s a whole line of us,’ and right as he said that is when the next officer cut in and I just broke down.” From there, all of her father’s colleagues stepped in to give Kirsten a father-daughter dance she’ll never forget.
