Kavanaugh was just confirmed to the Supreme Court, and Twitter is full of pain and anguish

Today, October 6th, U.S. senators voted to confirm embattled judge Brett Kavanaugh to a lifetime position on the Supreme Court. The confirmation comes 90 days after President Donald Trump announced Kavanaugh as his pick to replace retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy, and after a lengthy and painful confirmation process that saw three women—Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, Deborah Ramirez, and Julie Swetnick—come forward with allegations of sexual assault against Kavanaugh. Their bravery also brought forth a tsunami of sexual assault stories from survivors triggered by the Kavanaugh hearings.

Following the majority-Republican 50-48 vote in the Senate, Twitter erupted with sorrow and devastation.

This vote wasn’t unexpected—we’ve known since at least October 5th that Kavanaugh had more than likely secured his place on the court. Still, seeing the decision—in black and white—is painful.

This process has been brutal, and today marks the culmination of a very painful chapter in American history. But it also marks the beginning of a new era—a majority conservative Supreme Court. Today, take care of yourselves, because tomorrow, we fight—all the way to the ballot box in November.
