“Boyhood”: This Is The Movie That Will Make Me Die

Every once in a while you see a movie that is so real and human and makes you think about life and death and being a kid and your parents and growing up and growing old and everything you love and hate but especially love about being alive that it almost feels like you’ve entered into a new atmospheric zone, one where your body gets all tingly and then you cry. Oh, how you cry.

This summer, June 11th to be precise, the movie Boyhood will hit theaters and I will go see it and then die from feeling all the feelings. At least that’s what I think from looking at this trailer. Richard Linklater’s new project follows the same kid, a boy named Mason (played by Ellar Coltrane), from ages six to eighteen as he deals with all of the challenges of adolescence, family and just how hard it is to grow up. Linklater started filming Coltrane in 2002, and continued in four-day spurts for 12 years. Even from watching the trailer you can see how stunning and true and unlike any other coming-of-age movie this cool project has turned out to be. The movie also stars Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette as Mason’s parents.

Have I mentioned how much I will be crying?
