Sometimes, it’s obvious when a book will make a great film. Remember reading Crazy Rich Asians and The Hate U Give? You may have come up with your dream casts as you read, hoping that one day, they would come to life on the big screen. But it’s not always that easy; books don’t always translate smoothly into a script. It may take longer for those stories to come to life, but when they do, it’s worth the wait. 1Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman by Lindy West, on Hulu March 15th
When Lindy West published Shrill in 2016, it changed the way we talk about fat-shaming, sexism, and harassment. The Hulu series of the same name, adapted by Elizabeth Banks and starring Aidy Bryant, depicts a young woman who learns she can change her life without changing her body.
2The Aftermath by Rhidian Brook, in theaters March 15th
Set in postwar Germany in 1946, The Aftermath is a story of tragedy, rebuilding, passion, and betrayal. It stars Keira Knightley, our period piece queen, and Alexander Skarsgård, who looks dreamier than ever.
3Five Feet Apart by Rachael Lippincott, in theaters March 15th
Stella (Haley Lu Richardson) and Will (Cole Sprouse) are teenagers with cystic fibrosis. They must stay five feet apart at all times, or else Stella risks catching an infection—which is highly inconvenient, considering they’re falling in love. Five Feet Apart is a must-see for anyone who sobbed through The Fault in Our Stars.
4The Perfectionists by Sara Shepard, on Freeform March 20th

The spinoff we’ve all been waiting for is finally almost here. If this teaser, set to an eerie cover of “Somebody’s Watching Me,” is any indication, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists will be just as juicy as the original series.
5The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band by Mötley Crüe and Neil Strauss, on Netflix March 22nd
Step aside, Bohemian Rhapsody. The Dirt: The Unbelievable Story of the World’s Most Notorious Band is the must-see rock and roll biopic of the year. If you’re not of the Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx era, I’ll put it this way: Pete Davidson is in it.
