These body-positive illustrations of Mexican Olympic gymnast Alexa Moreno continue to shut down the body shamers

While Alexa Moreno should have only made headlines for her stunning Olympic performance and representation of Mexico in a sport for which they are historically underrepresented, she also became a trending topic due to horrible body-shamers on Twitter. Thankfully, the defense of Moreno was beautiful, swift, and overpowering.

In an interview with BuzzFeed, Alexa said:
“I hardly ever pay attention to social media. As soon as I finished competing, I was flooded with tags. It really got to me. I got down on myself, but my parents talked some sense into me, and encouraged me not to pay attention. All these people were people I didn’t know, and I’d already gotten the chance to talk to people whose opinions really mattered. So, BYYYYEEEE.”
These images portray Alexa’s spirit, athleticism, beauty, and perseverance.
Also, Alexa is too busy competing internationally while simultaneously studying architecture at Universidad del Valle de México like a #boss, so she has no time for the haters. BYYYYEEEE.
