This body-positive blogger no longer fits into her favorite pair of shorts, and here’s why that’s a beautiful thing

A body-positive blogger is parting with a beloved pair of shorts she no longer fits into – and she’s definitely not mad about it.

Alyssa Grace, who goes by the username amorparasimismo on Instagram, posted a photo of herself wearing a pair of denim shorts she could no longer button, providing a powerful message about eating disorder recovery.

“To my eating disorder: Oh ED... remember these shorts? When we were together I lived in them, she wrote in the caption of the photo. “I saw them in the drawer and the memories were all too tempting. They. don’t. fit. anymore. In the same way you no longer fit into my life. And the thing is.. you almost had me. Remembering our life together was painful and... enticing. Some days I forget that I'm still getting over you. Here's the thing. I don't want you back. I don't want 'that' body back. I don't want these shorts back. I'll find another pair that I won't have to kill myself to get into next time.

Grace told the Huffington Post that Instagram’s body positive moment has played a significant role in her recovery.

She says she posted the photo with the hope to inspire others to continue fighting their eating disorders, because health matters so much more than pant size.

“All you have to do is have the courage to hold on and we will help you climb up the whole way, Grace said. “You are so far from alone.

Thank you for spreading such an important message, Alyssa.
