Blue Ivy teaching her friend how to properly rock out at a Jay-Z concert is exactly what we needed today
It’s been a big week for Beyoncé and Jay-Z, to say the least. Not only are they right in the middle of their international On The Run II tour, but they also released an entire joint album called Everything Is Love yesterday, June 16th, along with an epic music video for the single “Apeshit.”
Like we said, it was a big week.
But what might superstar dad Jay-Z be most proud of this Father’s Day? The fact that daughter Blue Ivy taught a friend how to “properly” rock out during one of his performances. And yes, it’s as hilarious and adorable as it sounds, people.
The moment was tweeted out from the Jay-Z Daily fan account on June 16th from the OTRII London show. The tweet's caption read, "Blue telling her friend to throw up the roc as her dad performs "

For those who don’t know, “The Roc,” is the diamond-shaped symbol made popular by Jay-Z and other artists affiliated with the (Jay-Z-founded) record company, Roc-a-Fella Records. The candid moment proves the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, and that Blue Ivy is already well-versed in her family’s musical-icon status.
And this isn’t the first time young Blue has taken control of a situation. Remember when she told Grandma Tina Knowles to stop taking Insta pics?
LOL forever, guys.
It’s been a big week for Blue Ivy, too. The six-year-old cameos on the Everything Is Love bonus track “Salud!”, her voice ending the song with, “Shout-out to Rumi and Sir, love Blue.” It’s an incredibly cute — and meaningful — way for Beyoncé and Jay-Z to end their nine-track album, and we think it was the perfect touch.
Let this all serve as a reminder to be on our best behavior should we ever attend a public event with young Blue. She clearly has high-standards, and we’re taking note.
