Blake Shelton gets slimed, announces his exciting new hosting gig

After the somewhat awkward moment at this year’s Country Music Awards, Blake Shelton has a chance to get his just desserts by hosting an award show of his own. Specifically, Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards! The country music singer broke the news on the Today show, shortly before releasing photos and video that promo the upcoming event, happening in March 2016.

The 30-second video shows Shelton in a familiar spot: his chair from The Voice, the reality show which he co-judges with Christina Aguilera, Pharrell, Adam Levine, and his lady-love Gwen Stefani. Behind him, clips from previous Kids’ Choice Awards flash across the screen. As Shelton listens to the audio, he gets more and more excited. He definitely likes the sound of this.

When Shelton hits the buzzer, the inevitable happens: he gets slimed. Hard. “This feels nice,” he comments, squishing it around in his boots. You better get used to it, Blake, because there’s a lot of slime where you’re headed.

While Shelton definitely has some big shoes to fill, following in the footsteps of previous hosts like Nick Jonas and Mark Wahlberg, but we’re sure this country superstar is going to kill it on stage, and maybe even give us a song or two? We can only hope.
