Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are official (and Adam Levine adorably approves)
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are officially dating, and we are officially loving their officialness.
The following statement was released by Stefani’s rep on Wednesday: “Gwen and Blake are longtime friends who have very recently started dating.” Short and sweet and totally validating that The Voice Gwen/Blake OTP fanfic we know has to be lurking around the internet somewhere.
Stefani didn’t attend the CMAs with Shelton on Wednesday, but the pair did make their first public appearance as a couple at a CMA after party in Nashville. They were spotted holding hands, because they’re dating and that’s what people who are dating do, yay romance!
Stefani and Shelton are both recently divorced from their music industry veteran partners (Gavin Rosedale and Miranda Lambert, respectively). Since Lambert was also at the CMAs (and won ‘Female Vocalist of the Year’… yes, girl!) it makes total sense that Stefani didn’t attend the show — likely out of respect for everyone involved. Seeing your ex in a new relationship after a split is never easy, so we’re happy to see that Stefani and Shelton are starting this new chapter of their lives off on a thoughtful and kind note. The couple isn’t just dating, though, As it turns out, they’ve also written a country song together. No word on the title or when it will be released, but according to People, the song “is about telling a lover to leave the relationship if that is what they truly want.” We aren’t the only ones gushing over the new power duo and their awesomeness — Adam Levine is also showing his adorable approval. He posted this photo to Facebook:
We wish Stefani and Shelton the best of luck in their romance. You guy, they are going to LITERALLY make sweet music together, LITERALLY, aaaaahhhh, too excited.
