Blake Lively’s lovely pregnancy pic is an antidote to all those nude photo hacks

Who’s sick of female celebrities’ names popping up on your newsfeed because they are just the latest victims in the ongoing phone-hack-private-photo-and-video-leak-scandal? Who’s tired of all the recent big celeb news not being about who’s a shoe-in for an Oscar nom or who’s skyrocketing up the Billboard Hot 100, but rather “Who has a naked picture that’s now all over the Internet”? Everyone should be raising their hands high in the air because this photo hack problem has been some serious woman-shaming madness and I can’t wait for it to become but a footnote in celebrity history.

It seems like one of the best ways to usher out this Era of Grossness is to give the floor to female celebrities who have big news they actually WANT to share via Internet photos. Enter stage right, Blake Lively, who just announced that she and Ryan Reynolds are expecting their first child by posting her own photo online.

Instead of letting gossip sites spill the beans, she announced her pregnancy by posting a beautiful, intimate image on her new lifestyle site, Preserve. The picture, taken by her brother, Eric Lively, reveals Lively’s unmistakable bump, and appears at the bottom of a slew of other images celebrating family gatherings.

Lively, who has been gunning to be a momma for a spell now (“If I could spit out a litter of kids, I would,” she’s told Marie Claire, while telling Allure “I’ve always wanted a big family, oh I’d love 30 [children] if I could”) is using this time on her website Preserve to celebrate other moms in the spotlight.

“With family on our mind, we looked to the origin of it all, to the women in our lives who are right there, at that special moment; at the creation of the family,” she says in her baby announcement post.

A million props to Lively for doing her part to change the current conversation about women in the spotlight, a conversation about women having their right to privacy shockingly violated, into a conversation about famous women choosing to let the public into their personal life, an invitation that is completely on their terms.

And, of course, a BILLION props to Lively and Reynolds for their impending little bundle of awesomeness.
