Blake Lively won Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress at The People’s Choice Awards, and you go girl!
If you saw last summer’s The Shallows, then you know that Blake Lively gave a seriously kickass performance (like, seriously. Kickass). And it also means that you probably won’t be surprised to hear that Lively won the 2017 People’s Choice Award for Favorite Dramatic Actress.
Lively beat out Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Julia Roberts, and Meryl Streep in this category, proving once and for all that the people love a good woman versus shark movie (we know we do).
In case you missed it, the film was about a young medical student who gets trapped on a rock while surfing on a remote beach in Mexico…when a giant great white shark decides to use the space between her and the shore as its feeding ground. Lively’s character is forced to use her wits and inner strength to make it out of it alive. It’s VERY tense, very entertaining, and Lively CRUSHED IT.
via giphyOur girl definitely has a lot to celebrate this year. She welcomed second daughter Ines this past September (little sister to daughter James), and her husband Ryan Reynolds has been killing it professionally as well (holla, Deadpool!). Not to mention, Blake just seems like the most down-to-earth celeb EVER (if you’re not following her on Instagram, we highly recommend it).

So huge congrats, Blake! We’re so thrilled that you got the recognition you deserved — it’s about time!
