Blake Lively paid homage to early-00s Christina Aguilera with a throwback Versace look
As the famous Peter Allen song goes, “everything old is new again,” and that couldn’t be more true at the Versace Pre-Fall 2019 runway show. This past weekend, the fashion house previewed its upcoming collection in New York City, and it most definitely brought on the nostalgic factor. Models strutted down the catwalk in throwback Versace designs, including pieces that made history.
Aside from the models wearing reimagined Versace dresses from the ’90s and early 2000s, celebrities stunned on the red carpet in some of the brand’s most famous designs. The one that caught our eye the most was Blake Lively’s dazzling sequin dress. According to Marie Claire, her sparkly silver number was from Versace’s spring/summer 1999 collection. It was vintage indeed, and it looked almost identical to Christina Aguilera’s 2000s Grammys dress.
Now that’s a throwback.
Christina wore a Versace dress during the 42nd Annual Grammys, and the Simple Favor actress’s design is stunningly similar. Blake’s Versace piece even features a bedazzled yellow butterfly on the lower-back part of her cut-out dress. Both styles are also cut at an angle and slightly ruffle at the bottom. Talk about twins.
During the same awards show where Christina donned her disco-colored butterfly dress, J.Lo broke the internet with her green Versace gown. Yup, that happened on the same night.
At the N.Y.C. Versace event, the fashion powerhouse showed a similar dress to J.Lo’s iconic green one. The brand also revealed another number that made fashion history. They showed off its iconic pin-up dress similar to the one Elizabeth Hurley wore alongside Hugh Grant (her boyfriend at the time for you youngins) at the premiere of his film Four Weddings and a Funeral.
