Black Panther will be showing in theaters for FREE, and it’s for the best reason possible

Black Panther is officially Marvel’s most critically-acclaimed movie ever. The film has won Golden Globes, SAG Awards, and is currently nominated for Best Picture at the 2019 Oscars (the first superhero movie to ever be nominated in that category). It’s also earned over a billion dollars worldwide. Basically, it’s a must-see. However, if you somehow missed the film the first time around, we have some good news: Disney will be showing the movie again at 250 AMCs around the country between February 1st and February 7th—for free.

The free showings will be in honor of Black History Month, and Disney also plans to donate 1.5 million dollars to the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) in conjunction with the screenings. In a statement announcing the news, the head of The Walt Disney Company, Bob Iger, said, “Black Panther is groundbreaking for many reasons, including the rich diversity of voices behind its success. The story also showcases the power of knowledge to change the world for the better, and the importance of ensuring everyone has access to it. We’re proud to provide thousands of free screenings of Black Panther in hopes it will continue to inspire audiences.”
