Disney might build a “Black Panther” ride, and pack your bags because we’re going to Wakanda

Black Panther, Marvel’s latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ends with a joke about T’Challa taking Shuri to Disneyland. Because, come on, take your younger sister to Disneyland, King of Wakanda. While it’s a funny joke, and one that goes over very well with audience, let’s go ahead and take this joke a step further and make it an actual reality — and instead of just taking Shuri to Disneyland, Disney might actually build a Black Panther *ride.*

Considering the movie has been a huge cultural moment and has brought much-needed representation in the superhero universe, it’s not surprising that talk has kicked up about incorporating Black Panther into Disneyland and Disney World resorts. And the good news is, it’s a real possibility.

You can travel to Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland, and Avatar Land, and soon maybe…Wakanda.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney is actually thinking about creating a Black Panther ride. That’s right, we might be able to actually travel to Wakanda if Disney follows through with this one. Disney CEO Bob Iger told Wall Street analysts that while there wasn’t a ride officially planned, he assumed “there are people who are working on it.”

While this is exciting to hear, know that we’ll still probably be waiting a long time for a Black Panther ride — let alone a whole Wakanda land. For instance, Disney’s Guardians of the Galaxy ride just opened summer of 2017 despite the first Guardians film’s huge success back in 2014. And Disney’s Star Wars land, Galaxy’s Edge, isn’t set to open until 2019. So while we definitely are ready for an IRL Wakandan experience RIGHT NOW, we don’t want Disney to rush into something and create a lame Black Panther park experience — not that they ever would.

But hey, there is a very intense and awesome rumor that Disneyland is actually going to get a whole Marvel land in the near future…and T’Challa and Shuri better be front and center. We’ll be waiting, because our bags are already packed.
