Bindi Irwin just won ‘Dancing With The Stars’ and also our hearts
Last night the finale of Dancing With The Stars’ 21st season aired on ABC, and the competition was tough. It came down to three couples: Alek Skarlatos and Lindsay Arnold, Nick Carter and Sharna Burgess, and our favorites, Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough. We aren’t ashamed to admit we’ve always been Team Bindi, or #TeamCrikey, the hashtag that’s blown up in honor of her late father. After her stellar performance two nights ago, we’re not surprised that last night she took home that trophy.
Last night’s performance got the seventeen-year-old another set of perfect scores, and that was enough to push her into winner-territory. That, and her dedication throughout the whole season. From heartwarming tributes to her father to absolutely nailing the Dirty Dancing lift, Bindi has shown that the best way to dance is with your heart. Turns out, it’s also the best way to win.
After being crowned, she cried out some words of thanks to the crowd. “Thank you so much for everything. I can’t believe that I’m here.” Finally, she said the most moving words of them all: “Thank you for changing my life.” She also posted this to Instagram.
We’re pretty sure that Bindi has changed our lives with her inspirational story and upbeat attitude, so we can’t think of anyone else who deserves this award more. Watch the clip of her victory below!
