Billie Lourd posted a candid video of herself singing to honor Carrie Fisher on the 2nd anniversary of her death
Today, December 27th, marks two whole years since the world lost actress, activist, and icon Carrie Fisher. And her daughter, Billie Lourd, just posted a raw and beautiful tribute to her late mother. In a video shared to Instagram in the early hours of the morning, Lourd sits alone at a piano singing a simple rendition of Jackson Browne’s “These Days.” The Scream Queens actress captioned the video with, “It has been two years since my Momby’s death and I still don’t know what the ‘right’ thing to do on a death anniversary is (I’m sure a lot of you feel the same way about your loved ones). So I decided to do something a little vulnerable for me, but something we both loved to do together – sing.”
She concluded by writing, “I hope this encourages anyone feeling a little low or lost to ‘keep on moving’. As my Momby once said, ‘take your broken heart and turn it into art’ – whatever that art may be for you.”
It’s a sweet, sad, and honestly, perfect, tribute to Fisher, and we couldn’t have asked for anything more special or meaningful today.
Last year, Lourd shared via Instagram that she and her father took a trip to Norway for the one-year anniversary of Fisher’s death to see the Northern Lights, writing, “My momby had an otherworldly obsession with the northern lights, but I never got to see them with her. We journeyed to northern Norway to see if we might ‘see the heavens lift up her dark skirts and flash her dazzling privates across [our] unworthy irises.’ And she did.”
