Billie Lourd honored Carrie Fisher’s birthday with the sweetest tribute

Yesterday was the late Carrie Fisher’s birthday, and we spent a large chunk of the day feeling emotional about it. Billie Lourd honored Fisher’s 61st birthday with a sweet throwback pic that made our hearts grow. Fisher passed away last year at the age of 60. The very next day, Fisher’s own mother Debbie Reynolds passed away. It was devastating.
Our hearts have been with Lourd, Fisher’s only daughter, ever since. We appreciate her candidness when it comes to her mother and grandmother, and really love when Lourd shares cute throwback photos of her mom. For Fisher’s birthday, she pulled out the ultimate photo.
On Instagram, Lourd posted an adorable picture of the two of them from when she was very young. Our waterworks came from the caption, though, because it was just so Carrie Fisher.
The colorful caption pays homage to the way Fisher chose to tweet, in a seemingly made up emoji language that was hard for most of us to understand.

But of course, we loved her even more for it.
Todd Fisher, Carrie’s only brother, recently told E! News how he and his niece planned to celebrate Fisher’s birthday.
"You can be sure that Billie and I will have a moment in reflection on Carrie's day."
And we’re sure they did. Todd has been very open about his sister’s influence, and how much she meant to his family and to the world.
"I see people almost every day that come up to me and hug me and tell me what an amazing inspiration that she was, as a survivor and a woman who stood up for what she believes in," he continued. "It's amazing how many people recognized her for that."
Lourd posted one more picture in honor of her mother’s birthday.
In a post that needs no real caption, Lourd displayed her new celestially-inspired tattoo next to a photo of her mother’s own.
What better tribute than to show the moon, stars, and the galaxy that Fisher now rests in? Happy birthday, Carrie. It’s not the same without you.
