A troll made a creepy comment about Billie Eilish, and Twitter isn’t having it
In case you’ve somehow missed it, Billie Eilish is having a moment. Thanks to the debut of her first full-length album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, she has rocketed to super-stardom. But unfortunately, like most young women in the public eye, she has to face a lot of unwanted attention and objectification—like recent creepy comments from a Twitter troll.
On June 22nd, one Twitter user shared pictures of Eilish wearing a white tank top and posing with fans. He took the opportunity to perv out about the 17-year-old singer’s body, writing, “Billie Eilish is THICK.” He followed his initial tweet with comments about how she was “legal now in almost half the country” and used her lyrics in an attempt to justify sexualizing her.
These kinds of comments would be gross enough on their own, but Eilish has explicitly said that she doesn’t want people looking at her body. Her usual wardrobe consists of oversized sweatshirts and baggy pants for this reason.

It’s frustrating that men would rush to objectify Eilish as soon as she shows a little bit of skin.
Several Twitter users pointed out that Eilish has been trying to avoid these reactions to her body.

The bottom line is that no one should be sexualizing a teenager’s body. And beyond that, the way a woman presents herself never means she’s “asking for it”—no matter how provocative her lyrics or how revealing her clothes are. We’re just glad that Eilish’s fans have her back.
