Billie Eilish’s Mom Recalled Her Sobbing While Listening to a Justin Bieber Song on Loop

It’s not NOT relatable.

In the latest episode of Billie Eilish’s Me & Dad Radio show on Apple Music, Eilish’s mother, Maggie Baird, told listeners that her daughter was so obsessed with Justin Bieber as a kid that she seriously considered taking her to therapy to help her sort out her emotions.

“I just want to say, we did consider taking you to therapy because you were in so much pain over Justin Bieber,” Baird said, per Entertainment Tonight, referring to herself and Eilish’s father, Patrick O’Connell.

Baird specifically remembered that Eilish would “sob” listening to “As Long As You Love Me” during the ride to her dance studio and back.

“I remember this one really well and the video,” Baird said of Bieber’s hit song, “and Billie talking about it, and being excited it was coming out, and just crying and crying.”

To show her point, and that Eilish is still affected by the song, the family hit play on “As Long as You Love Me” during the episode, and like when she was younger, Eilish started crying.

In fact, she got so overwhelmed listening to the song on Me & Dad Radio that she actually had to stop it before it finished just so she could quell her tears. “This is just the power of music,” O’Connell said. True.

The longtime fan, Eilish, and Bieber finally met in July 2019, and they collaborated on Eilish’s “Bad Guy” remix. From there, a friendship started, and Bieber now feels like a mentor to Eilish, having also started in the music industry at such a young age.

“It was hard for me being that young, and being in the industry, and not knowing where to turn, and everyone telling me they love me, and just turn their back on you in a second,” he told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in February 2020.

He continued, “I just want to protect her. I don’t want her to lose it. I don’t want her to go through anything I went through…If she ever needs me, I’m just a call away.”

Something tells us that little Billie would have absolutely exploded if she could see herself being friends with Justin Bieber now. Dreams really do come true.
