Billie Eilish just became only the second artist to sweep the top Grammy award categories

At just 18 years old, Billie Eilish attended her very first Grammy Awards last night, racking up an impressive six nominations and performing her hit “When The Party’s Over.” But her night wasn’t just the cherry on top of a year filled with incredible accomplishments. Eilish broke records with her historic five wins, and we are cheering so hard for her right now.

She took home five Grammys in the following categories: Best New Artist, Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Vocal Album. Her wins in the first four categories make her the first woman and second person ever to win in these top categories in the same night. The last artist to do so was Christopher Cross all the way back in 1981, according to CNN.

For reference, Adele has also swept all four of those categories, but over the course of three years, making Eilish’s wins at the 2020 Grammys extra special.

Eilish also made history by becoming the youngest solo performer to ever win album of the year for her debut studio album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? Prior to her win, it was none other than Taylor Swift herself who held this honor for her 2008 album, Fearless.

For her part, Eilish seemed shocked with each call of her name. She was even spotted by cameras mouthing, “please don’t be me” as the nominees for Album of the Year were announced, seconds before she took home the gold. Then, she immediately yelled “no” once she realized she’d won.

When she got on stage, she made sure to give props to fellow nominee Ariana Grande, telling the audience, “Can I just say that I think Ariana deserves this? Thank U, Next got me through some shit, and I think it deserves this more than anything in the world. I love you, thank you so much.”

Not only do we love to see young artists supporting each other, but we also have so much love for Billie in all her successes this year. Congrats to you, girl! We can’t wait to see what’s next for you.
