Bill Nye doing improv will make you love Bill Nye even more

Things we love include: Bill Nye the Science Guy, Whose Line is it Anyway?, and Bill Nye the Science Guy guest -starring on Whose Line is it Anyway?. That’s right: Your favorite bowtie wearing, chemistry explaining, all around amazing television phenomenon has a pretty great sense of humor. In fact, one of his earliest jobs on television was as a writer and actor on a sketch comedy show called Almost Live! So, last night, would you believe that Bill Nye returned to his improv roots by appearing as a guest on The CW sketch show? Yep. It happened, and it was glorious.

Let’s break down the amazingness of this episode. First, Wayne Brady is tasked with singing a song about Bill in a 50s rockabilly style. It’s a daunting task, but Wayne was up to the challenge.

“Is there a dance you’ve ever wanted to name?” he asked Bill. Bill’s response? “The Click!” Wayne proceeded to improvise a song from scratch about the scientist dancing his new signature move, the Click. And boy, did Bill dance along. He snapped, twirled and even gave host Aisha Tyler a whirl around the stage.

Later in the show, Bill joined Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie in their infamously silly game Helping Hands, where Colin stands behind Ryan and functions as his hands. The game typically involves Colin making Ryan perform messy tasks, and Bill quickly got in on the fun. In this game, he acted as an astronaut teaching Bill all about living in space.
