Prepare for the collective Internet freakout — Bill Murray will be in the new ‘Ghostbusters’

It’s already a 1000% amazing that we’re getting an all-ladies Ghostbusters reboot starring some of the funniest humans on the planet right now. There can’t possibly be anything else to make this new Ghostbusters reboot even MORE amazing, right? Wrong. How about we call about an old Ghostbusters friend? How about we call, BILL MURRAY??

The OG Ghostbuster is set to appear in director Paul Feig’s new movie, alongside Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones. According to ComingSoon he was just spotted in Boston — where the movie is shooting — and both The Hollywood Reporter and Variety confirmed that he’s going to show up in the reboot. But question is, who’s he gonna play?

It’s unclear if Murray is coming back to reprise his role as Dr. Peter Venkman because he ain’t afraid of no ghosts. Or, if he’s gearing up for another as-yet-unknown role.

Another veteran Ghostbuster, Dan Aykroyd, is also going to appear in the film, and it sounds like his really is a quick cameo (he tweeted about it, and then quickly deleted it, because maybe it was supposed to be a surprise?).

So Murray can go one of two ways. He’s going to do a quick cameo, or he’s going to suit back up and strap on a proton pack.

Either way this is time to FREAK OUT and CELEBRATE. Even if Murray just wants to walk into a few frames of the new movie, or maybe just stand in the background of a few scenes and wave, we’ll take it.
