We’re going to have ourselves a Bill Murray little Christmas

Bill Murray is the king of doing awesome things whenever he feels like it. He makes great movies, delights us by crashing random house parties, and has recited poetry at a construction site just because he could. And now he’s bringing us a musical Christmas special! And if that weren’t enough, he’s collaborating on the project with Sofia Coppola.

Coppola has confirmed, “We’re working on a Christmas special,” she said. “Not sure when it will air, but my motivation is to hear him singing my song requests.”

She coaxed a great karaoke performance out of him for Lost in Translation and he seems to grab a mic every chance he gets, so we’re jazzed for what’s sure to be a magical evening of Bill crooning classic Christmas tunes. And like most things Murray, it’ll have his signature twist to it: “It’s not going to be live,” Murray says. “We’re going to do it like a little movie. It won’t have a format, but it’s going to have music. It will have texture. It will have threads through it that are writing. There will be prose.”

In case you’re somehow in doubt of Bill’s vocal skills, check out some of these stunning performances:

Bill give ultimate attitude in this rendition of ‘Gloria’:

He can even sing in a meat locker with a Mariachi band for accompaniment and totally kill it:

And, of course, we must end with the original Murray/Coppola musical collab, a stunning rendition of ‘More Than This’:
