Sleeping Beauty’s castle is gone?! These are the biggest changes coming to Disneyland Parks in 2017
The year is quickly coming to a close, which means it’s time to start focusing on 2017! Big thanks to E! Online for rounding up the biggest changes coming to Disneyland Parks next year, so get excited.
All Disney fans know that nothing can ever stay the same in your favorite Disneyland park. In fact, something is always changing. Whether it’s Tower of Terror closing in Disney California Adventure, or your number one churro spot moving, Disneyland is always evolving.
The good news is, with change comes exciting new lands, adventures and attractions. Okay, so what’s on schedule for Disney World and Disneyland parks all over the globe? Here’s what’s happening, and not all of them are bad…thank goodness.
“I Do!”
Come 2017 you will be able to actually tie the knot at Disney World in Florida. You need a fiancée, obviously, most likely a LOT of dough, and a pretty wedding dress and then you’re all set. According to Disney’s Fairytale Weddings & Honeymoons site, the bride gets to arrive in Cinderella’s pumpkin carriage and say her vows in front of Cinderella’s castle. Oh, and it’s all after the park closes, so no crazy crowds around you when you say, “I do,” to your very own Prince Charming.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Takeover
While we will have to say goodbye forever to the Tower of Terror, in return, Disney fans will be getting the Guardians of the Galaxy ride. The Tower of Terror ride will be there in spirit — and in exterior — as the new ride will use it as part of “The Collector’s Fortress.” The free-falling experience will also be included, so no giant corndog or turkey leg before blasting off into this new realm.
Disney Dollars are Dunzo
Despite our best efforts to bring back the Disney Dollars — you know the money that only works in Disney parks — they are officially out of circulation. Since they technically don’t ever expire, if you were to find some in an old fanny back, you could cash them in, which is a bonus.
Hello, Frozen!
In the New Year, Frozen: Ever After will finally be up and running. You will be able to see Elsa and Anna sing and dance on wooden boats as they float by you, without any complications, like the ones that happened during the soft opening. The lines however, may still be a problem, but you’ll just have to let that go.
Sleeping Beauty is Taking a Long Nap
Sadly, Sleeping Beauty’s castle is going bye-bye, well at least in Hong Kong. In order to make way for new attractions, E! Online reported, Hong Kong is doing away with Sleeping Beauty’s pretty castle. It’s so sad, but at least her castle is at other Disneyland parks so you can imagine Princess Aurora waking up to Prince Philip and falling in love forever.
The Main Street Electrical Parade is a Thing of the Past
In Florida, you will no longer be able to witness the legendary Main Street Electrical Parade, which is a total bummer. It had it’s last parade in October, but you can see it — for a limited time — in Disneyland in Anaheim next year.
