OH NO: “The Big Bang Theory’s” Johnny Galecki’s home has burned down
While most of us are enjoying the summer weather, others are worried about the sizzling heat and the increased fire risks out West — where fire fighters have been heroically battling blazes. On Monday, Johnny Galecki’s ranch burned down in a massive and devastating wildfire in San Luis Obispo — that is now 60% contained but continues to ravage the California coast.
Fortunately, The Big Bang Theory star was not home during Monday night’s blaze, which locals are calling the Hill Fire. KSBY reports that nearly 250 people were evacuated from their homes in San Luis Obispo County as the fire tore through some 1,500 acres.
Despite the loss of his home, Galecki seemed to be in good spirits and is taking the news in stride.
“My heart goes out to all in the area who are also experiencing loss from this vicious fire, the threat of which we live with constantly, which may seem crazy to some but we do so because living in our beautiful, rural area makes it worthwhile. Johnny told TMZ
He then went on to commend the strength of the Santa Margarita community,
“It’s never the structures that create a community — it’s the people. And if the people of Santa Margarita have taught me anything it’s that, once the smoke has cleared, literally and figuratively, it’s a time to reach out and rebuild. We’ve done it before, and will need to do it together again, and it will make our community even closer and stronger.”
Galecki, who is best known for his role as Dr. Leonard Hofstadter, says he hasn’t seen his property since it burned to the ground, but intends to visit the ranch to see if he can salvage anything not ruined in the blaze. He has also expressed gratitude to the hard working men and women of CalFire and the local Sheriff’s station.
“I know you guys are fighting the good fight to keep us safe. So very relieved no one has been hurt.”
Many fans have flooded Galecki’s Instagram with messages of hope and support. We’re so glad no one was injured or permanently displaced in the fire and we’re sending so much love to Johnny during this difficult time.
